‖ Bokmål, n.|ˈboːkmɔːl| Also bokmaal. [Norw., f. bok book + mål language.] In Norway, a written language derived from Danish and now one of the two official languages (the other being Nynorsk n.); = Dano-Norwegian s.v. Dano-. Formerly called Riksmål (q.v.). Bokmål was adopted as the official term in 1929.
