‖ Pupivora, n. pl. Entom.|pjuːˈpɪvərə| [mod.L. neuter pl. of pūpivor-us devouring pupæ.] A division of hymenopterous insects containing those, such as the Ichneumon flies, which deposit their eggs in the larvæ of other insects, chiefly Lepidoptera. Hence ˈpupivore [as in F.], a member of the Pupivora; pupivorous |pjuːˈpɪvərəs| a., of or pertaining to the Pupivora; devouring the pupæ of other insects; parasitic on pupæ. The name Pupivora was introduced by Latreille 1806–9, as that of his second family of Hymenoptera. They correspond nearly to the Entomophaga of Westwood.
