[1850J. D. Dana Syst. Min. (ed. 3) v. vii. 559 Brewsterline. Fluid. Colorless... We have thought proper to recognize this fluid among minerals and name it, although yet imperfectly described. 1854Ibid. (ed. 4) I. v. 471 Brewstoline.] 1864Ibid. (ed. 5) 761 Brewsterlinite. A new fluid in the cavities of minerals. 1902H. A. Miers Mineralogy ii. xviii. 443 ‘Brewsterlinite’..was investigated by Brewster, who found it to have the low refractive index 1·2. 1966W. A. Deer et al. Introd. Rock-Forming Min. i. 47 Microscopic cavities are sometimes found in topaz, usually filled with a liquid: one such liquid, brewsterlinite, has a refractive index of 1·13 and has been supposed to be liquid CO2. |
