† schrötterite Min. Obs. [ad. G. schrötterit (E. F. Glocker, Grundr. d. Mineralogie (1839) 536), f. the name of Anton Schrötter (1802–75), German chemist and mineralogist: see -ite1.] A name formerly applied to greenish opaline specimens of allophane.
