Schuplaettler, -platter, etc. [G., f. schuh shoe + south G. dial. plattler (f. platteln to slap).] A lively Bavarian and Austrian folk-dance, characterized by the slapping of the thighs and heels. Also ˈSchuhplattltanz (irreg.); ˈSchuhplatteln [G. schuhplatteln, to perform this dance].
