[ad. late Gr. σκιᾱθηρικός, f. σκιᾱθήρας (also σκιάθηρον, σκιόθηρος), sun-dial, lit. ‘shadow-catcher’, f. σκιά shadow + θηρᾶν to catch. Cf. L. sciothēricon (Pliny), a sun-dial.] a. adj. = sciatherical a. b. n. in pl. form sciatherics, the art of dialling.
