Scientology|ˌsaɪənˈtɒlədʒɪ| Also s-. [f. scient- (in L. scientia knowledge) + -ology.] A system of beliefs based on the study of knowledge and claiming to develop the highest potentialities of its members, founded in 1951 by L. Ron Hubbard (b. 1911). Scientology is registered in the U.S. as a proprietary term.
