[f. Gr. σκόµβρο-ς (see Scomber n.) + toxic a.]
Involving or designating a kind of poisoning caused by eating the decomposed flesh of scombroid fish, which may contain high levels of histamine and other toxins, or by eating similarly contaminated canned fish, and having symptoms similar to those of allergic reactions to histamine; also applied to the toxins causing this reaction and to fish which may contain them.
