Brucell(a, f. the name of Sir David Bruce, a Scottish physician (1855–1931) + -osis.] A disease caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella; as applied to the disease in men, also called Malta fever, undulant fever, etc., and, in cattle, contagious abortion, etc.
