▪ I. burring, vbl. n.1|ˈbɜːrɪŋ| [f. bur v.1 + -ing1.] The removing of burs and other foreign bodies from wool or cotton in the process of manufacture. Hence burring-machine, burring-saw, burring-wheel. burring rollers pl., an apparatus for removing the burrs from wool in preparing it for carding.
