butyne Chem.|ˈbjuːtaɪn| [altered form of butine: see -yne.] Either of the two isomers CH3·CH2·C{vddd}CH and CH3·C{vddd}C·CH3 (also called crotonylene) of the hydrocarbon C4H6. (Formerly called butine.)
