† calaˈmistrate, v. Obs. rare. [f. L. calamistrāt-us crisped, curled, f. calamistrum curling-iron; cf. F. calamistrer.] trans. To curl, crisp, frizzle (the hair). Hence ˌcalamiˈstration.
