The branch of geology which deals with the nature and properties of sediments and sedimentary rocks. So ˌsedimentoˈlogical a., of or pertaining to sedimentology; ˌsedimentoˈlogically adv., by means of sedimentology; from the point of view of sedimentology; ˌsedimenˈtologist, an expert in sedimentology.
