‖ pyrenomycetes, n. pl. Bot.|paɪˌriːnəʊmaɪˈsiːtiːz| [mod.L. Pȳrēnomycētēs, f. as prec. + µύκης, pl. µύκητες mushroom.] An order of ascomycetous fungi, characterized by the asci being formed in flask-shaped receptacles or perithecia. So pyˌrenomyˈcetous a., belonging to or of the nature of the Pyrenomycetes.
