The action of pretermitting.
1. The passing over, overlooking, or disregarding of anything; omission of anything from a narrative; omission of, or neglect to do, something.
1583Babington Commandm. i. (1637) 11 The pretermission of thankes for any goodnesse..bestowed by the Lord,..is horrible. 1633T. Adams Exp. 2 Peter iii. 18 Any pretermission of the physician may exalt the disease. 1704Swift T. Tub iii. 2. Ceasing to do something (for a time); leaving off the practice of anything; disuse.
