The name of Cassel (now Kassel), a town in Germany, used attrib. to designate various pigments, as Cassel brown, Cassel earth, a brown prepared from impure lignite, Vandyke brown; Cassel green, a green consisting chiefly of barium manganese, Manganese green; Cassel yellow, a patent yellow pigment, Chinese yellow, mineral yellow.
