serpierite Min.|ˈsɜːpɪəraɪt| [a. F. serpierite (A. des Cloizeaux 1881, in Bull. de la Soc. min. de France IV. 92), f. the name of J. B. Serpieri, 19th-cent. Italian engineer: see -ite1.] A hydrated basic sulphate of copper, zinc, and calcium found as crusts or aggregates of small pale blue orthorhombic crystals.
