Shardana, Sherden, n. pl., collect.|ʃɑːˈdɑːnə, ˈʃɜːdən| [ad. Egyptian Šrdn.] One of the Sea Peoples, tentatively identified with the later Sardinians, who fought against the Egyptians in the 13th century b.c. and afterwards served them as mercenaries. Hence ˈShardan, a member of this people. Also attrib.
