† chaisel, cheisil Obs. [a. OF. cheisīl, chesil, var. of cheincil, chensil, chansilh, cainsil:—late L. camisīle, -is (8th c. in Du Cange), f. camisia: see chemise.] 1. A fine linen (sometimes identified with byss or byssus). Often used attrib.
