chondropterygian, a. and n. Zool.|ˌkɒndrɒptəˈrɪdʒ(ɪ)ən| [f. mod.L. chondropterygii (f. Gr. χόνδρο-ς cartilage + πτερύγιον fin) + -an.] A. n. A member of the order Chondropterygii, fishes having a cartilaginous endo-skeleton, as the shark, ray, and sturgeon.
