‖ ˈshochet Judaism. Pl. shochetim. [Heb. shōḥēṭ, pr. pple. of shāḥaṭ to slaughter.] A Jewish slaughterer, a person officially certified as competent to kill cattle and poultry in the manner prescribed by Jewish law.
