1895Weed & Pirsson in Bull. Geol. Soc. Amer. VI. 415 For this type of rock, then, we propose the name of shonkinite,..and shonkinite we define as a granular plutonic rock consisting of essential augite and orthoclase, and thereby related to the syenite family. 1900Bull.
