shura, n.|ˈʃuːrə| [a. Arab. (also Urdu and Pers.) šūrā consultation. Cf. Turk. şûrà council.] a. The Islamic principle of (rule by) consultation. b. Hence, an Islamic consultative council or similar advisory body; loosely, a council or parliament.
