clinometer|klaɪˈnɒmɪtə(r)| [f. clino- + µέτρον measure.] A measurer of slopes and elevations. 1. An instrument for measuring the dip of mineral strata or for determining the slope of cuttings, embankments, etc.; also for taking altitudes.
