Clipsham|ˈklɪpʃəm| The name of a town in Rutland (now Leicestershire), used to designate limestone quarried there and used for building.

(MS.), Mr. Estcourt was willing to execute the building in Clipsham stone. 1882Times 2 June 4/3 The stone finally chosen for use at the New Schools comes from Clipsham in Rutland... Clipsham stone was hardly known beyond its own neighbourhood. 1958Listener 19 June 1003/1 On either side are brown clipsham stone buildings. 1960Oxf. Univ.
