[L., imper. of quærĕre (med.L. querere) to ask, inquire. Now usually in anglicized form, query.]
1. v. imp. Introducing a question or subject of inquiry: Ask, inquire; hence, ‘one may ask’, ‘it is a question’ (whether, etc.).
