‖ conepatl|ˈkəʊnɪpɑːt(ə)l, -æ-| Also conepate. [Native Mexican name: lit. ‘little fox’; f. conetl, in comp. cone- ‘child’, prefixed to names of animals = ‘young, little’ + epatl fox. (Siméon.)] An American skunk (genus Conepātus, J. E. Gray, 1837).
