Snohomish, a. and n.|snəʊˈhəʊmɪʃ| Also Snow-. [19th-cent. Puget Salish snuhumš.] A. adj. Of or pertaining to the Snohomish or their language. B. n. (A member of) a Salish Indian people of western Washington; also, their language.

W. Hodge Handbk. Amer. Indians II. 606/2 Snohomish. A Salish tribe formerly on the s. end of Whidbey id., Puget sd., and on the mainland opposite at the mouth of Snohomish r., Wash. Pop. 350 in 1850. The remnant is now on Tulalip res., Wash., mixed with other broken tribes. 1940M. W.
