1877Coues Fur Anim. vii. 203 All the bones of the skull finally coossify, excepting, of course, the mandible. 1882O. C. Marsh in Pop. Sc. Monthly XX. 314 The fibula..may be co-ossified with the side of the tibia. Hence co-ˌossifiˈcation, union (of two or more bones) into one bone.
