Somocista, n. and a.|ˌsɒməʊˈsiːstə| Also Somozista. [Sp., f. the name of Anastasio Somoza Portocarrero (1896–1956) and his sons Luis and Anastasio Somoza Debayle, who between them held the presidency of Nicaragua almost continuously from 1937 to 1979 + -ista -ist.] A. n. A follower of the Somoza family; a member or supporter of its regime (cf. Sandinista n. and a.). B. adj. Of or belonging to the Somozas or their followers.
