sorosilicate Min.|sɒrəʊˈsɪlɪkət| [a. F. sorosilicate (V. Billiet 1945, in Bull. de la Soc. belge de Géol. LIII. 182), f. Gr. σωρός heap: see silicate.] Any of the group of silicates characterized by isolated pairs of SiO4 tetrahedra that share an oxygen atom at a common apex.
