ˌcounter-ˈetch, v. Printing. [counter- 1.] trans. To treat (a lithographic plate) with diluted acid in order to clean it and make it receptive to grease. Hence as n., this process, or the acid solution used for it. So ˌcounter-ˈetching vbl. n.
