cross-bearer|ˈkrɒsˌbɛərə(r), ˈkrɔːs-| [cross- 1.] I. One who bears, wears, or carries a cross. 1. An attendant who carries a cross in a procession or religious ceremony; he who bears an archbishop's cross before him.
