† cuppeity Obs. nonce-wd. Also 6 cuppytee. [f. cup n.] Used to render κυαθότης, ‘a word coined by Plato to express the abstract nature of a cup, cuphood’ (Liddell and Scott).

(1701) 287/1 Plato discoursing concerning Ideas and naming τραπεζότητα, and κυαθότητα, as if he should say Tableity and Cuppeity, he said, I see, Plato, the Table and the Cup, but not the Tableity and Cuppeity. |
