cupreine Chem.|ˈkjuːpriːɪn| [f. cuprea + -ine5.] A cinchona alkaloid, C19H22N2O2, contained in cuprea bark.

Jrnl. 20 Sept. 222/1 This latter alkaloid is susceptible of being split into two other alkaloids, one of them being..quinine..the other an alkaloid.. to which we will provisionally give the name of ‘cupreine’. 1886Encycl. Brit. XX. 185/1 Homoquinine has been shown..to be decomposed on treatment with caustic soda into quinine and a new alkaloid, cupreine. 1939Thorpe's Dict. Appl. Chem.
