cyanidin Chem.|saɪˈænɪdɪn| [a. G. cyanidin (Willstätter and Everest 1913, in Ann. d. Chemie CDI. 204), f. cyan- + -idin.] An anthocyanidin (usu. isolated as the chloride, C15H11O6Cl) which in combination with various sugars constitutes many of the most important natural anthocyanin plant pigments.
