(zängkt gälən) also Saint Gall (sānt gôl, gäl, säɴ gäl) A city of northeast Switzerland east of Zurich. Developed around a Benedictine abbey founded by an Irish missionary in the seventh century, it joined the Swiss Confederation in 1454.
