They drop down, often rather conspicuously, to their nest under a fallen log, or even in a hollow in the leaf-mould.

Other sites chosen can be in a hollow tree, in a tree stump or fallen log, or in a gap under a rock.

They make a lined nest on the ground often on top of a rocky stack, fallen log or other obstructing object which can block the contents from the elements.

The forest contains fallen logs, as well as about 90 in-situ-(standing) tree trunks, and leaflets or branch fossils.

The soft, spongy orange fruit bodies grow spread out on the surface of fallen logs.
