Biodiesel, blended with petroleum diesel, has a low sulphur content, reduces unburnt hydrocarbons and produces less carbon monoxide and particulate matter.

Biodiesel also may reduce health risks associated with petroleum diesel.

Diesel for land and sea transport will be a blend of 5% processed palm oil and 95% petroleum diesel.

After this processing, unlike straight vegetable oil, biodiesel has combustion properties very similar to those of petroleum diesel, and can replace it in most current uses.
