Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish chicharrón.
Etymology: < Spanish chicharrón crackling (end of the 15th cent. or earlier; usually in plural chicharrones ), of uncertain origin (although apparently formed with -ón -oon suffix).
In Mexican cookery: a piece of fried pork crackling. Usually in plural.
