Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Aeoline.
Etymology: < German Aeoline (1815 in sense 1, 1852 or earlier in sense 2) < classical Latin Aeolus (see Aeolian adj.) + German -ine (in e.g. Violine violin n.). With sense 2 compare earlier aeolina n. 2.
1. An early form of harmonium. Now historical.
