Etymology: < aero- comb. form + -lith comb. form. Compare French aérolithe (1806), post-classical Latin aerolithus (1816 or earlier). Compare aerolite n.In form aerolithos apparently remodelled after ancient Greek λίθος (see -lith comb. form).
Now chiefly historical.
