单词 aerometer
释义

aerometern.

Brit. /ɛːˈrɒmᵻtə/, U.S. /ɛˈrɑmədər/
Forms: see aero- comb. form and -meter comb. form2.
Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: aero- comb. form, -meter comb. form2.
Etymology: < aero- comb. form + -meter comb. form2. Compare French aéromètre (1762), Italian aerometro (1795).There is some confusion between this word and areometer (see araeometer n.) and it can be difficult to distinguish between them in the literature; compare the following:1921 Geogr. Jrnl. 58 313 The descriptions of instruments are nebulous in many cases, e.g...that of the ‘aerometer’, a misspelling repeated so often that it makes one hesitate to blame the printer for a misprint of ‘areometer’.
Now historical.
An instrument or apparatus for measuring the density of air or other gases.
