Etymology: < co- prefix + infection n.
1. The simultaneous presence in a person, animal, or plant of two or more different kinds or strains of microorganism, parasite, or virus; an instance of this. Sometimes spec.: the onset of two infections at more or less the same time.In the spec. sense, contrasted with superinfection (superinfection n. 1), in which one infection has become established before the onset of the next.
