Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; perhaps modelled on a German lexical item, or perhaps modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: a- prefix6, -graphia comb. form.
Etymology: < a- prefix6 + -graphia comb. form, perhaps after German Agraphie (1865 or earlier) or French agraphie (1865).
Medicine.
Loss of the ability to write intelligibly or to express ideas in writing, resulting from damage to certain areas of the brain; an instance of this.
