Etymology: < Latin conjugālis, < conjug-em (nominative conju(n)x) consort, spouse, < con- together + jug- root of jungĕre to join, yoke; compare conjungĕre to join together, join in marriage, etc. Compare French conjugal (in Cotgrave 1611).
1. Of or relating to marriage, matrimonial. conjugal rights: the rights, especially to sexual relations, regarded as exercisable in law by each partner in a marriage.
