Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin albumin- , albumen , -ated suffix.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin albumin-, albumen albumen n. + -ated suffix. Compare French albuminé (1800–1 in the passage translated in quot. 1804, or earlier).
Chiefly Biochemistry.
Combined or coated with albumen, albumin, or a protein resembling these; containing added albumen, etc.
