单词 aha
释义

ahaint.n.

Brit. /ɑːˈhɑː/, /əˈhɑː/, U.S. /ɑˈhɑ/
Forms: Middle English a-ha, Middle English–1500s a ha, Middle English– aha, 1500s a hah, 1500s ah ha, 1600s ahah, 1800s ah, ha, 1800s ah, hah, 1900s– a-hah, 1900s– ah-ah, 1900s– ah-ha, 1900s– ah-hah.
Origin: Probably formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: a int.1, ha int.
Etymology: Probably either < a int.1 + ha int. or a reduplicated form of ha int., unless arising as a natural expression of various emotions. See further discussion at ha int.Interjections of similar form expressing a comparable range of emotions and mental states (dependent on intonation) appear in most of the Germanic languages: compare Middle Dutch aha (Dutch aha, expressing surprise, satisfaction, sudden realization, or playful mockery), Middle Low German ahāh, expressing triumph, Old High German ahā, expressing satisfaction (Middle High German ahā, German aha, now expressing realization or understanding), Swedish aha, expressing variously surprise, realization, understanding, satisfaction, or scorn, Danish aha, expressing surprise, sudden understanding, or recognition (and formerly also pain or distress). Compare also (although expressing a wider range of emotions) classical Latin aha, expressing surprise or irony, Middle French, French aha, ah ah, ahah, expressing surprise, satisfaction, triumph, or irony (compare Old French ha ha, attested from the 12th cent. expressing lamentation and from the 13th cent. expressing indignation), Spanish ajá (c1275 as aha expressing satisfaction or surprise), Portuguese †ahá (13th cent.). Similar forms exist in a range of senses in other Indo-European languages, although it is unclear whether they show any connection.
A. int.
Expressing triumph, satisfaction, realization, discovery, or (now rarely) mockery or irony. Cf. ah int. 3, 4, ha int. 1b.
