Etymology: Originally < post-classical Latin alienator person who alienates (property) (5th cent.) < classical Latin aliēnāt- , past participial stem of aliēnāre alienate v. + -or -or suffix. In later use also partly < alienate v. + -or suffix. Compare earlier alienor n. Compare also earlier alienate v. and alienation n.With the form alienatour compare -our suffix.
A person who or thing which alienates someone or something (in various senses of the verb). Cf. alienor n.
