Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin aliquantus.
Etymology: < classical Latin aliquantus a certain (quantity or amount of) < alius some or other (see alien adj.) + quantus how great, how much (see quantum n.). Compare French aliquante (1653).

Mathematics. Contained in a larger number but not dividing it exactly; contrasted with aliquot. Chiefly in aliquant part.In quot. 1911 in extended use.
